Tumor ¡genesisStudies with 1,2-Dimethylhydrazine Dihydrochloride, Hydrazine Sulfate, and Isonicotinic Acid in Golden Hamsters1

چکیده
Solutions of 0.012% hydrazine sulfate, 0.001% 1,2-dirnethylhydrazine dihydrochloride, and 0.5% isonicotinic acid were given continuously in the drinking water of 9-, 7-, and 5-week-old randomly bred Syrian golden hamsters for the remainder of their lifetime. The consumption of hydrazine sulfate and isonicotinic acid was without any significant carcinogenic action, while 1,2-dimethylhydrazine dihydro chloride induced angiosarcomas of the blood vessels with incidences of 89% in females and 82% in males. In addition, it produced an appreciable number of tumors in the cecum and liver. ' These findings clearly show that the carcinogenic effect of

Morphological studies of angiosarcomas induced by 1,2-dimethylhydrazine dihydrochloride in Syrian golden hamsters.
Studies were made on the morphological characteristics of blood vessel tumors induced by the p.o. lifetime administra tion of 0.001% 1,2 dimethylhydrazine dihydrochloride in Syrian golden hamsters. The lesions were classified as angiosarcomas. They occurred in 89% of the females and 82% of the males (with decreasing frequency) in liver, lungs, muscle, heart, and pancreas. Gross, light, and elec...

Bioassays of amosite, short-range (SR), intermediate-range (IR) or intermediate-range chrysotile asbestos in combination with the intestinal carcinogen 1,2-dimethylhydrazine dihydrochloride (DMH) were conducted with male and female Syrian golden hamsters. Amosite and both forms of chrysotile asbestos were administered at a concentration of 1% in pelleted diet for the entire lifetime of the hams...

Proliferative activity of background and neoplastic colonie mucosa was examined following five months of weekly injec tions of 1,2-dimethylhydrazine (20 mg/kg) and one or four months of rest to determine whether previously reported changes may result from an acute or chronic effect of dimethylhydrazine and whether differences exist between stages of neoplasia. To determine whether neoplasia is ...
متن کاملTHE ROLE OF VITAMIN Be IN THE TOXICITY
Within recent years hydrazine and the methyl substituted hydrazines have come into considerable use as rocket fuels. As a result of this increased production of hydrazines, the possibility of accidental human exposure is of considerable interest. Obvious concern results from the fact that hydrazine had been used as an experimental means of producing fatty liver in experimental animals for many ...
متن کاملProphage induction in lysogenic Escherichia coli with simple hydroxylamine and hydrazine compounds.
The prophage-inducing capability of hydroxylamine sulfate and 36 of its derivatives, and of hydrazine dihydrochloride and dihydrazine sulfate and 43 of their derivatives, was determined in Escherichia coli W1709 (lambda). Maximal nontoxic concentrations up to 1 mg/ml were tested. Hydroxylamine sulfate was active at 2.5 mug/ml and the following 17 derivatives were active at concentrations rangin...
